Aerial photo of the city

1932. Ioannina in a side aerial photograph from the archive of the Land and Cartography Organization of Greece. It was published in the magazine ZOSIMADES. It was sent by the graduate of Zosimaia school, professor of the University of Patras, Mr. Giorgos Katsiaris. On the right side, the vertical line is Anexartisias Street (which still exists today).

City center photograph

1950s. photo of the city center, by Angelos Kalogeridis.

It is taken from the Acropolis Hotel, which no longer exists -owned by the Kalogeridis family in those years- and today the Poukamisas Kindergartens are located at the site. The photo shows the Averof Hotel (no longer exists), the roof of Ilion hotel, the clock, the division buildings, the huge Old Barracks in Litharitsia, the tower with the water tank and the military installations in the current municipal parking lot (published by the I&E Ganis Foundation).
